Installation of 148 light emitting diodes (LED) streetlights will take place in Addington Highlands.
The new lighting system by Realterm Energy is designed to reduce annual streetlight energy bills by 65 per cent. LEDs require less electricity than traditional streetlights.
The company says the lights are already being installed and will be finished by July.
The project was proposed and designed by Ontario’s Local Authority Services and RealTerm Energy using fixtures from CREE Canada.
“We were excited to provide Addington Highlands a turn-key solution where we act as project manager over the design and installation” says RealTerm President Sean Neely. “This allows the township to focus on the savings.
More than 50 other Ontario municipalities have upgraded to LED sytems in the past year including Tweed, North Frontenac and Arnprior.
