Honey bees continue to make news.
Prince Edward County council is considering designating some roadsides as “pollinator friendly zones”.
Staff will bring a report back to council on the feasibility of only cutting grass on certain roadsides in the fall of the year to protect honey bees and other pollinators who live and forage in the countryside.
Julie White is the proprietor of the Long Point Honey Company and asked council to change the roadside cutting schedule on Long Point Road in the Prince Edward Point area.
Other areas in The County will also be considered as candidates for “pollinator friendly zones”.
