Military helicopters have pulled seven people from the slopes of Japan’s Mount Ontake volcano.

As many has 30 people may have died when Mount Ontake erupted yesterday about noon local time.
A large white and gray plume continues to rise from the ash-covered summit, and a convoy of red fire trucks and rescue workers on foot could be seen heading past barriers into the restricted zone around the mountain.
