The U-S Congress convenes a new session today with the Republicans in charge of both the House and the Senate, and ready to challenge President Barack Obama over a host of issues.
One of the first face-offs will be over TransCanada’s proposed Keystone X-L pipeline project to pipe oil from Alberta’s oilsands to Gulf Coast refineries.
Republicans are ready to pass it, and could introduce a bill in the Senate as early as today.
A spokesman says U-S President Barack Obama isn’t prepared to issue a veto threat over the Keystone X-L pipeline — yet.
Obama has made skeptical comments about the project but so far hasn’t moved to kill legislation.
