Some green is coming Quinte West’s way to help subsidize the cost of “going green” in three local arenas.
This past summer the municipality upgraded the lighting with energy efficient LED lighting in two rinks at the Duncan Macdonald Arena in Trenton and the Frankford Arena.
Today Scotiabank announced it is subsidizing up to $5,000 of the cost in each location.
Bob Forder, manager of Building and Facilities coordinated the project and he says he’s very pleased Scotia is subsidizing $15,000 of the overall cost.
He says the project cost $160,000 and the city will save over 60,000 kilowatt hours a year in the three arenas.
