Residents in Prince Edward County, along with many on their local council, are getting worried that the County is getting too popular for large solar panel installations.
Some residents are demanding that council not support any more big solar arrays anywhere in the County, and especially in Sophiasburg ward.
The company Skypower is looking for municipal and provincial approval for six more big solar farms in the County.
Resident Carol Page-Heyding already lives near a massive solar installation at Doxsee and Black roads in Sophiasburg, and another one is proposed across the road.
Meanwhile, resident Garth Manning told County councils Committee of the Whole that the Green Energy Act was a money losing scam on the taxpayers, and that rural municipalities were being destroyed.
Councillors Kevin Gale and Bill Roberts, who represent Sophiasburg, said they would not be supporting any more large scale solar projects in the County, suggesting that many others on council had serious concerns as well.
