Belleville’s support of private solar projects seeking provincial funding seems to have ground to a halt.
Last night city council had before it three different solar system projects – rooftop ones on Millennium Parkway and Wilkie Street, and a ground-mount one on Scuttlehole Road.
Councillor Paul Carr says under the provincial program the province adjusts everyone’s electricity bill to ensure the private contractors get $.28 an hour whereas electricity is being sold on the market at 1.5 cents.
Council voted against supporting the projects.
