Belleville’s Farmers’ Market will star in a special documentary film next year to mark a special anniversary.
The Farmers’ Market turns 200 next summer and to mark the occasion photographer and filmmaker Michael Brethour is producing a documentary.
Brethour says it’s not only produce that draws people to the market.
He says the film will focus on the market’s importance to residents. He tells the story of vendors Peter Paylor and Lisa Morris who fell in love at the market.
The market started out in the basement of city hall, and Brethour notes it is 51 years older than Canada.
He has a budget of $14,000 and has applied for a city grant.
