You might not be able to see it with the naked eye, but environmental experts say climate change is having an effect on the Quinte Region.
A large group gathered at the Belleville Public Library today for a discussion on the issue, in conjunction with the United Nations Climate Change Summit, ongoing in Paris.
Quinte Conservation Hydrogeologist Mark Boone says the group has set up some monitoring stations across the region, to see exactly how we’re being affected.
And he says the data collected over the past few years is showing that the average annual temperature in our region is rising.
There are lots of ways to try and mitigate the effects of climate change, like switching to electric cars, adding solar panels, or making other improvements to your home.
Boone also had some ideas for easier ways to offset greenhouse gas emissions.
And Boone says even though we’re seeing the effects of climate change, a lot of good initiatives to control greenhouse gasses have been started.
He says it’s now just a matter of improving on those ideas.
