Flood warning downgraded by Lower Trent Conservation

There’s some welcome news for property owners along the Lake Ontario and Bay of Quinte shorelines from Quinte West to Grafton.

Lower Trent Conservation is downgrading its flood warning, to a flood watch, after months of excessively high water levels.

The environmental agency says water levels recorded in Cobourg have dropped about 57 centimetres from where they were in late May.

However, the levels are still 42 centimetres above average for this time of year and there continues to be a slight risk of flooding during periods of strong winds and high waves, but that risk is substantially less than it has been.

LTC is also reminding shoreline property owners that a permit is needed before any restoration work can be done.

You can find links to more information on that process by calling the LTC office at 613-394-4829, or by clicking here to visit the Lower Trent Conservation Website.

The flood watch will remain in effect until at least September 29th.
