Specialized wetland to be constructed

Some federal money is flowing into construction of a specialized wetland just east of the Quinte area.

Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Mike Bossio has announced a Green Municipal Fund grant of $275,700 for Loyalist Township.

The money will be used for installation and monitoring of a constructed wetland at the Amherstview Wastewater Pollution Control Plant.

Loyalist Township Mayor Bill Lowry says this pilot project will act as a research site, investigating how effective constructed wetlands are as a low-cost, low energy step in wastewater treatment process.
