Household Battery Collection will extend until April 27th, 2018. Residents are able to put AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, 6V, and button cell batteries in a clear, resealable bag on top of their sorted blue box on collection day for an additional week.
Household Battery Collection will extend for an additional week to ensure that batteries are diverted from our landfills, keeping harmful chemicals out of our environment.
Residents are asked to put their bag of batteries on top of your fibres blue box so it is easily identifiable to the recycling truck driver.
100% of the batteries collected are recycled by RMC, the Raw Materials Company located in Port Colborne Ontario.
Together, we have diverted over 65,000 lbs of batteries from the landfill since the beginning of the program in Quinte back in 2013.
Battery recycling is important because of the negative impact of battery chemicals on our environment. For more information, head to quinterecycling.org or call 613-394-6266.
