Quinte Conservation has issued a Level 1 Low Water Statement for parts of its watershed.
The statement is in effect for the Black and Skootamatta Rivers, as well as the Napanee and Salmon River watersheds.
Water Resources Manager Christine McClure says with no heavy rain forecast for the next few weeks, now is a good time for residents in those areas to start conserving water usage, by taking shorter showers, turning off the tap to wash dishes and brush teeth, and to water plants at night.
If you are experiencing abnormal low water levels, you’re encouraged to report those conditions via QC’s online form, which you can find by clicking here.
The statement will be in effect until Thursday August 9, unless conditions drastically change.
