A Belleville conservation officer has been named “Ontario Conservation Officer of the Year for 2018″.
He is Mark Baillie, a 30-year veteran of the conservation service.
Ontario’s Minister of Natural Resources, Jeff Yurek, says, ” Officer Bailie has shown a lifelong dedication to our province and is a natural choice for the Conservation Officer of the Year award this year.”
Bailie tells Quinte News his work covers a number of issues.
And he says the public is a great help.
The Ministry of Natural Resources tribute also says, “Bailie has been a mentor and role model to others, and he consistently demonstrates his exceptional character and leadership as a top conservation officer. He has previously been awarded a Peace Officer Exemplary Service medal, and is also the recipient of the Outstanding Service Award by the North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association.”
As conservation officer, Baillie covers an area stretching from Belleville to the Kaladar region.
