Dam operations will continue at Second Depot Lake in an effort to ensure adequate flood storage for the spring. In addition to Second Lake Dam, Quinte Conservation is operating Bellrock Dam in order to draw down reservoir levels.
Lake levels are currently supporting ice coverage. As levels start to lower in the reservoir, the stability of the ice coverage will decline. Downstream lakes will see an increase in water levels which may affect the strength of the ice.
Quinte Conservation would like to remind the public that the Authority does not monitor ice for thickness or safety.
The public is always encouraged to exercise caution when near or around water. Stream banks may be slippery and treacherous. Water flows and currents may be strong. Dams and other water control structures should be avoided at all times. For more information on dam operations, visit quinteconservation.ca and subscribe to the dam operations newsletter.
