A special weather statement is in effect for Belleville, Quinte West, Eastern Northumberland County, Cobourg, Colborne and Western Northumberland County as freezing rain is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Freezing rain is expected as another low pressure system developing over the Southern Plains moves toward the Great Lakes.
Snow will begin Wednesday evening, then change through ice pellets to freezing rain later Wednesday night. Most areas may receive a few centimetres of snow and ice pellets before the transition to freezing rain.
Freezing rain will then come to an end Thursday morning as temperatures rise above the zero degree mark.
Untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery. Travel may be affected.
