Upgrades to the Millennium Trail have resumed.
Work scheduled includes:
To maintain sight lines for oncoming traffic and a clear trail for unobstructed passage, the brush at the side of the eight-foot-wide Millennium Trail will be cut back three feet on each side. To improve the surface of the trail for the benefit of all users, construction crews then will be grading, applying 6” of limestone screenings, and rolling the surface of the trail.
This phase of upgrades will occur between Station Road in Hillier and Fort Kente Road (County Road 64) in Carrying Place.Upgrades on this 14.5 km stretch of the trail began with brush removal on April 9 followed by grading after the half-load limit is lifted in early May. Work is expected to continue for approximately 10 weeks.
Sections of the trail will be closed during the upgrade work and will be marked appropriately.
The Millennium Trail Rehabilitation Ad-Hoc Committee, which includes representatives from the County of Prince Edward and the Prince Edward County Millennium Trail Committee, is facilitating the project.
