In 2009, a large number of carpet tile specialists in Belleville, Ontario, lost their jobs when a carpet mill closed. Many of them had decades of experience and chances of another job in their field were very limited.

Inspired to start a new carpet tile company, they combined their expertise in producing quality flooring and their ideals for social, environmental and financial sustainability. Quebec and Ontario investors, the Ontario government and the City of Belleville saw the business opportunity and committed resources and support.
